We, as a family have enjoyed these stories many times throughout the years and my husband has encouraged me to write them. I was always going to get “around to it” and now here they are. My husband and I have been avid story tellers since childhood. The telling word in that sentence is “story” meaning you can’t believe a word we say. Our children have picked up the habit and they too can “spin a yarn”. I am the first born and my husband is the baby so each of us to get the attention that we thought was due us, developed the ability to embellish. By embellish I mean that we were able to take what would have been an already unbelievable story and make it so much more. We don’t exactly lie about things but the truth sometimes is stretched to point of breaking. I don’t think that my children have ever trusted anything that I said. We had many a night of internet searching and proving sessions. Even though I started out exaggerating the stories, I soon decided that the things that have happened to us as a family were simply too good as they were and needed no elaboration. However read with care and with a grain of salt. The title of the book ORLY came from a particular battle between my children over which one of them actually invented the phrase ORLY. Since Dave Barry had already written And I Am Not Making this Up, I could not use that even though that title was perfect. I decided on ORLY after I heard one of them exclaim, “O R L Y” over something that they deemed unbelievable, yet true.

As this eclectic mix of misfortune and hilarity unfold, you start to believe that some events happen for the sole reason of their memory entertaining us in less exciting times. The tales shared in this collection cover thousands of miles and several years but the author's positive yet disbelieving attitude make it a joy for readers.By the end of the book your head will already be shaking in dread as you begin to sense the direction of the individual stories. Yet through it all, if these particular events stood out, it leaves you to wonder how much fun all of the adventures that contained said events must have been. Except for the snakes of course, who were undoubtedly left too scarred and bruised to take any delight in the stories.
I highly recommend this book especially if you've had the good fortune of having normal, relaxing, and expectation filling vacations and hobbies. Perhaps, though, by the time you reach the end you may regret that you've not had the opportunity to step back, take in the situation, and, in a bewildered stupor, been left with nothing else to do but exclaim, "O RLY".

I haven't finished it yet, but I can tell you right now that if you are a Little League coach and you have a kid who didn't make it to practice, you better explain to him what 'Run Home' means!
I have always realized that some people don't like snakes, but Lisa makes me realize that some people really HATE snakes. So, if you haven't read the book yet, just note that the best place to meet a snake is not while sitting on the commode.
I hope everyone gets this book, enjoys it like I do so Lisa and Jon are compelled to publish ORLY 2!

I literally laughed out loud throughout the book! Knowing the author and family made reading this book even more enjoyable. I have and will continue to recommend this to everyone who wants to be entertained!
Great, fun read! I am not sure how Lisa and her family get themselves into all these situations but the rest of us are better off for it! Also, I am now very wary about who might sit behind me at the theatre!
